Steamed vegetables can get very tedious and boring but most people cook them this way because it is quick, easy and healthy. I find that if I only eat steamed vegetables I get sick of the taste of them which means I am more likely to go off-track with my diet by looking for yummier food.
This recipe for garlic asparagus is so simple and can be whipped up in no time at all yet it is packed full of flavour. Garlic is extremely good for you, containing essential minerals including selenium, magnesium, manganese, zinc and more. The main health benefits of garlic are that it is anti-inflammatory, lowers cholesterol, stabilises blood sugar and contains anti-cancer properties (it is particularly effective at reducing the risk of stomach cancer).
Asparagus is another food full of goodness - it is an excellent source of vitamins K, B2, A & C, dietary fiber, manganese, potassium, and zinc. RECIPE (serves 2)
- 10g butter (for frying)
- 10 asparagus stems
- 2 gloves garlic, minced
1) Heat butter in a small frying pan
2) Add garlic and asparagus and cook until asparagus is tender (approx. 5-10 mins)
